Each BPM features an eclectic line-up of live performances, PAs and DJ sets from big names and new talent. Every style of music is covered, with the emphasis on fresh ideas and innovative performance techniques. There are also a variety of interesting and informative seminar sessions and panel discussions presented by professionals from all areas of the music industry. Pioneering good music regardless of genre, Little Jo is one who doesn’t like to be pinned down. Last year she released her Debut EP, a warped 3 track release taking listeners from rock influenced guitars through to stomping breaks and minimal bleeps, getting 6/8 in M8 magazine.

2 Of A Kind are a very unique double act bringing a new lease of life to Funky House and Electro music. The brothers are well known for thier ability to inject sudden life into their dance-floors and keep people shaking their ass into the small hours.

Taking their name from one of Alfred Hitchcock’s leading ladies, NOVAK is an innovative production house based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. NOVAK is made up of five professional and diversely skilled digital artists. They have an extensive client base working on a wide range of projects, from corporate design, installations and events, motion graphics, videography, photography and live Audio Visual performance. NOVAK produce music promos, video art, corporate idents, live visuals for national music events and festivals, video documentation, education projects, graphic print design and multi-art major festivals including their very own VAMOS Festival in Newcastle.

Guenter Loibl, born on July 6th 1969, became interested in music at an early age. During school he played in several bands and started writing and producing his own songs at the age of 15. Not very long after his graduation, Guenter made his passion a career and joined Yamaha where he worked as a representative for more than eleven years. In 2001, Guenter founded his own distribution company “REBEAT” to release both his own music and the albums of other creative musicians he met through his former job. Soon “REBEAT” earned an excellent reputation and achieved its first successes on the market and in the charts.

Multi-platinum music producer & remixer, Vincent di Pasquale has quietly garnered much attention over the past several years working on projects for many artists including Madonna, Mariah Carey, Nelly Furtado, Timbaland and many others. Although classically trained on both piano and guitar, Vincent gravitated early towards the sounds of electronic music. In addition to his hectic studio schedule, Vincent is also passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience with aspiring producers and musicians. He is a guest lecturer at SAE Miami where he teaches advanced sequencing and has participated in many events for leading technology companies including Euphonix and Apple (Logic Pro).

David Dunne’s DJ career spans over twenty years behind the decks and more than 17 years of playing dance music on the Radio. In 1989 he found himself on Manchester’s Piccadilly Radio during the heady days of “Madchester” presenting “The Isometric Dance Class” - the only radio show playing the huge tunes clubbers were experiencing at legendary Manchester venues such as the Hacienda, Legends and Konspiracy. At that time he gave DJs such as Justin Robertson, Mike Pickering and Jon Da Silva their first radio exposure.

In October 2003 when Pete Tong, of BBC’s Radio 1, proclaimed Carl Kennedy as ‘one of the world’s best undiscovered DJs’, he clearly was able to see what vast numbers of club goers were soon to discover; that Carl was destined to become a big name in dance music.

Mark ‘Luvdup’ van den Berg has been entertaining clubbers the world over for over twenty-seven years. With his unbridled sense of humour, notorious clubbing antics and brilliant selection of energetic and funky party music, Mark is one of the most instantly recognisable characters in worldwide clubbing. Mark has played in every major club in the land as well as throughout Europe and beyond. Canada, Australia, the USA, Russia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong and South Africa are all visited regularly - as well as Ibiza's massive Sundance parties (made infamous by the 'Ibiza Uncovered' series), Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria, Latvia and the Netherlands.

Shaun ‘Banger’ Scott has lived and breathed DJing since he was a teenager and in his career to date has accomplished every musicians dream. He has progressed from being a successful pub DJ, to a club DJ, to building an international reputation. He has played at festivals, appeared in music videos as well as produced and released records that have smashed dance-floors all over the world. His biggest achievement to date is pioneering the Speed Garage sound that influenced and shaped the Bassline music he is globally renowned for, which has earned him the regard ‘Godfather of Bassline’.

Sam Townend is Head of Music for world renowned Hard Dance label Tidy Trax. As well as running all aspects of the multi award winning label, Sam has been a key member of the team responsible for the promotion and organisation of Tidy’s sell out events across the World. Sam is also a well renowned DJ and Producer on the Hard Dance circuit with regular appearances at some of the biggest events across the globe.

DJ Dan is the UK’s biggest alternative DJ, playing to around 10000 people every week. He is also the creator of Propaganda, the UK’s largest indie night with regular club nights in London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and across the UK. Propaganda has been featured in Heat Magazine, The Independent, The Daily Mirror & NME, while the audio visual extravaganza regularly features guest DJs including Lily Allen, Zane Lowe & The Kaiser Chiefs.

A DJ for 22 years, Kevin has built FLAME Discos into a quality business by providing his client base with the service they require within the budgets they set. Kevin started like others in the industry, in clubs with Vinyl, moved to CD and now runs a mix of MP3 and CDs. Up until 2007, Kevin also ran a National Entertainment Agency with 600 acts and numerous DJs. He now utilises the experience gained to develop and assist new upcoming businesses and hopes that through this panel and with the help of great shows like BPM we can help each other learn, grow and maintain a presence in the entertainment market.

Richard Lee started his music career as a mobile DJ at the age of 15. He joined a local DJ agency at 18 and worked all over the UK as a professional DJ for 10 years. In 1999 he joined The Music Factory Entertainment Group and quickly worked his way to the position of Group Label Manager. This includes heading up the hugely successful Mastermix label. In 2006 Richard joined the local radio station, Rother FM, to host their breakfast show and weekend sports show. This was his first experience at radio and has led to a number of opportunities that he hopes to pursue in 2010. Richard returned to the Music Factory in 2008 and has been using his radio experience to work on a brand new digital site aimed at radio presenters all over the world. He has made many friends in the radio industry and believes that this will assist him in future ventures.

Steve White began his career with the Lincs Group. He was the first voice to be heard on Dearne FM when it was launched in 2003. He hosted the highly successful breakfast show for three years before moving to Hallam FM & Magic AM in 2006. His career continued to move in the right direction when he joined BBC Radio Sheffield in 2007. He currently presents their early morning breakfast show as well as being a key figure in producing the overall station sound. To add to that, Steve has been presenting his Soul show for a number of months and it has quickly become one of the most popular shows within the entire BBC network.

David Hoffman’s first encounter with radio was at Junior School when the Headmaster, Mr Oldfield, asked him to organise a school radio station, to read stories, poetry and anything else that could be conjured up as educational entertainment. Some ten years later, he went on to be the founder of radio Nightingale, the hospital radio service for Rotherham in South Yorkshire.

Nikhil Shah is co-founder of Mixcloud, an online radio startup based in London. He also runs successful London club brands Man Make Music and Retro Remix and DJs under the guise Sketchy. Cambridge University Mathematics graduate and former Brand Consultant, Nikhil has always had a passion for building brands and communities, starting from his first clubnights as a teenager. Over the years he has applied these interests to numerous club and event brands - including the student union entertainments brand, an event listings site, successful club brands and a small festival. He has worked with some of the world’s leading DJs, event brands and venues, including Ministry of Sound, Glastonbury and Bestival. As a brand consultant Nikhil has worked with brands such as Sky, Sony, Unilever and Sony Ericsson on insight, positioning and strategy work. As a DJ, Nikhil is proud to have played at some of the best clubs in the world alongside some of his musical heroes.

Steven Lee is one half of the massive Lee-Cabrera team who’s 2004 “Shake It” record garnered record of the year honors and champed a #10 national pop chart position with “Shake It” (Move a Little Closer). Signed with Ministry of Sound world-wide and a regular on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection Steven Lee has tasted all this business has to offer in the last five short years. With regular visits every weekend to Spain, Russia, Australia, China (to name a few) Mr. Lee aims high for the future. Now on his own and taking a hiatus from the Lee-Cabrera name Steven Lee is finding his own creative ear in the studio both solo and together with other top artists in the industry. “Seems like yesterday it was “Shake It”, now 5 years later and touring all over the planet it’s time to get back in the studio and achieve even bigger things on my own”, Lee explains.

Barney started his DJing career at the age of 11, like many of us, doing parties for family members which led to more private party bookings and eventually led to going on to club nights.

Frisk & Miss Rita are both established Drum n Bass / Ragga Jungle DJs from Liverpool.

Paul Forsyth has built-up his business – Storm Mobile Disco - from a love of music combined with a passion for customer service. Buying his first kit (a FAL console) at the age of 17, he later hung up his headphones (OK telephone) to concentrate on developing his main career in field sales within the sports and fashion industry.

Andy and Mark are purveyors of the finest Underground House music playing vinyl only sets to deliver their unique sound, best described as Rumbling Atmospherica. Their style encompasses deep progressive beats, dirty baseline hooks and haunting melodies sure to entrance their audiences. With their reputation for producing long seamless mixes and intricate blends of beats and percussion they are at the forefront of their genre and guaranteed to rock dance floors wherever they play.

Starting on north London pirate station Y2K in 2002 Klose One has gone on to hold down weekly shows on Itch Fm and internet station Pyrotechnic.com. Now regularly playing out in the London club scene and around the country, Klose One refuses to be pigeonholed into one genre or scene.

Leon Alexander is co-director and owner of the Hope Music Group, which is primarily a management company looking after electronic artists, DJs, film scorers and pop producers but also a publishing company and home to three record labels: 420, Marine Parade and Hope Recordings. He is also on the board of The Bristol Music Foundation and has recently launched Music Industry Education an initiative to help skill teenagers and professionals.

Gatecrasher resident Jimmy Kennedy has been at the forefront of the Birmingham clubbing scene for the past 10 years and has DJed at some of the biggest club brands throughout the UK as well as Europe and America. After a six month spell living in New York with his brother (Carl Kennedy) and playing regular slots at GBH (Centro-fly) and Pangaea with names such as Sandy Rivera, DJ Disciple, Benji Candelero and the Chemical Brothers, Jimmy returned to Birmingham to start his own brand ‘Strawberry Funk’ and booked DJs such as Jeremy Healy and Norman Jay.

Roger Brooks spent over 30 years in commercial radio, 19 of which were in senior management. He was worked as presenter, producer and managing director of six stations (including Hallam, Viking, Beacon and 2CR) and has served as a non-executive director for many others. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management and has been involved extensively in training in the radio industry.

Before his involvement in the music industry, David Mitchell spent six years as Sales Director of Turning Point Technology, providing high end server and workflow solutions to some of the major publishing companies in the UK including IPC Media, EMAP, and Haymarket. His next role saw him as the Fresh Media Group’s Sales Director where David and his team launched the first online magazine 'turn page' digital solution.

Edele is a female DJ who specialises in playing Progressive House, and is best known for delighting the crowd with her wide musical taste. One thing is certain; she has a knack for keeping the crowd on high energy.

Dan Tait and Oli Sorenson bring their new cutting-edge THX1138 show to the Panda Hire Silent Arena at BPM on Saturday 3rd October. As two of the world’s most forward-thinking VJs, both Dan and Oli (VJ Anyone / Ne1co) have made frequent appearances in DJ Mag’s Top 20 VJ poll and featured in Mixmag’s 10 Best DVJs – two of the world’s leading authorities on dance music.

Derek is the founder and co-owner of David Summers & Co entertainment ltd. His company covers over 400 events a year and provides work for freelance DJs throughout the North West of England. Derek has been a mobile DJ for over thirty years and has covered just about every conceivable gig you can imagine. He is committed to raising standards of performance and professionalism within the industry and has travelled extensively throughout the UK and overseas to seek out advice, training and products which benefit both him and his clients.

Charles Ward was once the co-founder of DJ Magazine UK, DJ Magazine Ibiza, and the TOP 100 DJ Poll. He now runs his own company, Concept, providing services to the media and dance music industry. One of his clients are KAM, the leading DJ Equipment manufacturers, and he is now responsible for all there branding, media buying and events. He was also responsible for the media buying for Pacha Ibiza 2008 and manages Dan Tait, the international DJ who now resides in Ibiza, and is responsible for getting Dan on the Space and Pacha rosters.

Jay-cee has been a DJ for many years, but over the last couple has worked hard to promote himself. He has played on several online radio stations including Phatbeats and has also co-founded his own site HFM 1073. Although comfortable playing any style of music, Jay-cee has a love for the fairly new ravebreaks genre, which he is sure is set to become huge.

The “glistening sonics” of electronic music enticed a grunge loving 16 year old James Zabiela to his first set of belt drive turntables some years ago, fast forward to 2009 and James is one of the most prolific DJs and producers on the planet. Over the last 10 years he has played endless gigs the world over, some era defining like his ongoing (8 years and counting) residency at Space in Ibiza to one off shows like Exit Festival 2006 where Goldie MC’d over his set.

Encouraged by his father to explore music to the full, Cutmaster Swift (CMS) began his close association with Hip Hop as a B-Boy initially for fun, later forming the Crash Crew. Gathering at London’s regular hang out in Covent Garden, he became notorious on the UK underground through breaking as he would dance regularly and win competitions at Tim Westwood’s afternoon Spat’s jams whilst secretly honing his DJ skills on a very basic home assembled system.

DJ Flip, the Larry Mullen Jr. of hip-hop, first came in the public's eye…er, no, make that, first came into the public's eye…no, rather, first came into prominence in the public eye (there, that's better) after scratching his way to the winner's seat at the International Turntable Federation's World Championship in 2003/2004. The "slash" between the years is still a mystery to everyone involved. Was it 2003 or 2004? The answer is lost to the ages. What everyone remembers is that an Irish kid touched his records while they were moving, and for some reason this was worthy of special recognition. So they called him the Scratching Champion…or something. It's not like he got a crown. Some say it's a meaningless title, like Miss Universe or Lieutenant Governor. You, gentle reader, might as well be ITF World Champion. It's just that easy!

Urban Nerds was born in March 2007 when James Benenson decided it was high time the often stale and fashion focused nightlife of East London woke up to the sounds of London’s underground. Devoted to providing a platform for emerging genres such as grime and dubstep, nearly 3 years down the line James and his two partners have firmly cemented Urban Nerds on the London club scene.

James Rompani first started promoting underground dance music in 2001 at the age of 18 whilst spotting an opportunity at University. Also whilst at University he worked as the music editor for Hooker magazine, a magazine supported and part funded by Cult Clothing. After teaming up a collective of dedicated designers, producers, DJs and vocalists under the guise of STEP:ONE, he is now one of three promoters who run Urban Nerds, a successful brand and club night that has worked with some of the biggest names in the business, from Fabric and Matter, to DMC and Mixmag.

Martin Wright has been a well-respected pioneer of the house scene for over 20 years. Since cutting his teeth on the decks in Hong Kong and Singapore, Martin’s worked with a host of global stars including StoneBridge, Danny Rampling, Lee Burridge and Sandy Rivera to name but a few.

Over the last seven years, Missrepresent has become a household name in the UK drum 'n bass scene, playing the some of the nation's biggest club nights, including Valve (Brunel Rooms), Herbal (London), EQ Stratford (London), SE1 (London), Scala (London), Cornhall (Cirencester), and Raveology (Air Birmingham) to name a few. She has been featured on the MC Convention tape pack alongside Skibadee and Shabba D. Her presence has been featured in many publications, including EGG, Hardstep Sistaz, Dogsonacid, The BBC and various newspapers.

After picking up the DJ bug while working in a record shop in the early 90's, Paddy Freeform has gone on to forge a career taking in several high profile residencies and playing at just about every open minded party in the North East of England, as well as promoting a good few of them. This resulted in DJ appearances and support slots alongside a whole list of great DJs, including Carl Criag, Zed Bias, Bugz in the attic, Gilles Peterson, 4 hero, DJ Bone and many more.

Since March 2007, Urban Nerds has provided a new home for genres spanning grime, dubstep, hip-hop, drum 'n' bass, reggae and beyond at Brick Lane's 93 Feet East; now very much their spiritual home! They pride themselves on providing DJs who know their way around a needle and who love their sound. Anyone that's been down to Urban Nerds will tell you the best thing going is the atmosphere, which is always full of the party spirit. A mixture of great punters and great music means that the so-called aggressive nature of underground genres such as grime is broken down to produce good vibes and a crazy, far from hostile crowd who love good music. Brighton raised, multi-award winning DJ Friction is a member of an exclusive club. He is one of a handful of DJs to have smashed through the ranks and become a superstar in his genre simply through an unbelievable talent behind the decks. This year has seen him add more accolades to his ever increasing CV, he is regarded by many as not only the most skilled but the most diverse DJ in drum & bass.

DJ Mag declared, “What makes Sonny stand out from the pack is his combination of talent and determination” and never was a statement more apt! An innovator and workaholic Sonny Wharton has developed, tweaked and honed his 3 deck wizardry with industry leaders Ecler and Ortofon signing him up as a UK Ambassador to showcase just what their technology is capable of in the right pair of hands.

A sexy girl, two turntables, a mixer and a ton load of energy is a brief but fair description of Cassey Doreen.

The Disablists started life as a Jazz Trio, realised that they had no talent for real instruments and bought turntables. They have been UK DMC Team Champions four times (in 2004/2005/2006/2007) and came third at the world finals in 2005 and second in 2006.

Described as "the World’s most popular audiovisual artists" by the UK’s Time Out magazine, award-winning London based Addictive TV are known for their cutting-edge audio/video remixes and dynamic live shows, which in four years has seen them voted number #1 VJs in the World in DJ Magazine’s poll and twice placed second.

The 'Godfather of Rave', is one of the UK's busiest and most well-respected DJs. Over the past 17 years he has mixed his way through many of the underground dance scene's different music styles with his unique style of energizing beats and quick-fire mixing. He continues to regularly play to capacity crowds at events and in clubs throughout the world.

Hailing from the deep South West of England, artist, producer, in-vogue remixer and DJ Tom Middleton headlined the official BPM 2008 Saturday after party hosted by Pioneer Pro DJ. Tom was also on the judging pane for the DJ Magazine Tech Awards that took place at BPM.

Beatbullyz In a world of genetically-modified clone bands, singing haircuts and serious scenesters, thankfully we're seeing a renaissance of live urban music. It’s all about energy, enjoyment, upliftment and realness, taking the funk back to the floor and causing outbreaks of expressive emotion and demented dancing (don’t be scared now kids). Beatbullyz are busting out of the gates of town, causing stampedes to the dance-floor and locking horns with audiences across the UK and Europe with their high energy fusion of Hip Hop, Street Soul, upbeat Funk and Urban attitude!

Skully first shot to prominence by being the first DJ to win DMC's UK Battle For Supremacy; an offshoot of the main World Championships, where DJs compete head to head rather than in sequence. From that launch pad he has received a mass following, and a multitude of accolades; including in 2002, the Diesel U Music Award for Best Scratch DJ, Best UK hip-hop DJ, and winning the DMC UK individual competition. After a retreat from competition for a few years, Skully returned in 2008 to regain the coveted DMC UK Championship title.

Semtex plays all over the world as Dizzee Rascal’s official tour DJ and also hosts a radio show every Friday and Saturday night on BBC Radio 1 Xtra. The Manchester born beat-juggler lives, breathes and sleeps Hip Hop; it’s in his blood, his heart and his soul.

Feisty electro-pop duo Electrovamp brought BPM 2008 to an end in style with their cheeky lyrics and ear-shatteringly vibrant in-your-face tones. Their live PA on the Pioneer Pro DJ Main Stage involved hi-energy performances of their debut single ‘I Don’t Like The Vibe In The VIP’ and the follow-up ‘Drinks Taste Better When They’re Free’.

Dan has literally spent half his life behind decks - at the age of 28, he has been rocking parties for over fifteen years. During this time his tastes have grown to encompass the many different strands of music that fall under the heading House and the breadth of styles with which he is comfortable is strongly evident in his sets.

Subgaint are a unique live electronic music act, popular on the live club and festival scene. The Subgaint sound? Think deep as hell dub basslines topped with a crunchy canopy of live beats and breaks. Spice this with one of the UK’s finest scratch DJs and you have a unique live electronic sound. The show skips from dub breaks to psy trance and back again.

Mainly focusing on Progressive House and Electro the boys from The Groundworx Session know how to build and keep a party going. They're used to working the decks for many hours, keeping their crowds filled full of that exciting tingly feeling by entrapping them with spine chilling bass driven tracks from beginning to end.

The FPSD has combined many disparate musical influences to make his tracks. His music is inspired by big beat artists such as Fatboy Slim and the Chemical Brothers, held together with riffs and melodies from artists like Genesis, Madonna and U2.

HouseProud is a unique collective of highly experienced and talented DJs who are passionate about House music. At BPM the House Proud DJs played two unique ‘History of House’ sets, mixing up classics and up-front tracks covering House music from across the years.

One of the UK's finest DJ/Producers and one of the founders of Formation Records, DJ SS aka Leroy Small is an original breakbeat pioneer who has made an immense contribution to today's drum & bass sound.

The Response Collective is a modern band featuring guitars, voice, keyboards, bass, turntables, samples and sounds. Their style has been described as a mixture of dance, chill out, rock, grooves and hip hop; but the band invites their audiences to make up their own mind.

DJ Fly is a French hip hop, breakbeat and electronica DJ who one the French DMC Championship in 2007 and 2008 and then went on to take the 2008 world title.

Ben (Dr Fish) hails from the deepest darkest Dorset countryside, where he grew up on a diet of Cider and Music! He began DJing in the late 90s upon the discovery of Psy-Trance & Techno. In 2003, inspired by DJs such as Yoda and 2many DJs, he began mashing different styles of music together, and learning the art of turtablism.

Ben Davitt is originally from York, UK. Ben first made his name in music five years ago dominating his local area with talent until his break came. From then on Ben has played in such venues as the world renowned Pacha (London) and supporting such DJs as Steven Lee (Lee Cabrera).

Truce first stood behind a pair of turntables at 18, having just received his first grown-up present. Unashamedly, he spun Happy Hardcore for four years, narrowly avoiding the Trance scene by a hair’s breadth.

Giuliano is an Italian DJ who brings his own style to TechHouse and loves to display his passion for a variety of musical influences. This goes a long way in filling his sessions with different musical orientations.

What do Ibiza Rocks, Wax:On, Metropolis and Reclaim The Dance Floor all have in common? The cream of international DJ line-ups? Legendary tales of debauchery? A clutch of awards and critical acclaim? DJ Markie began DJing 11 years ago, after listening to a Pete Tong 'Essential Selection' CD & thinking....how hard can it be?! He started out as a UKG DJ, but after garage started to 'lose its way', moved over to Funky / Soulful / Disco / Vocal / Electro House (preferring Electro, every time!).

Dj Ashley Holland (Club-Dj.org) from Lincolnshire first started on club seen in 2002 at the age of 18. Coming from a musical background with qualifications from the Royal School of Music he not only knows how to mix tracks together but how to perform and develop his sets with a wide range of style and tricks certain to drive any crowd crazy.

DJ Yoda is one of Britain’s most admired, original club DJs and an AV pioneer who is constantly pushing the possibilities of audio-visual manipulation. Encapsulating the very essence of good times, DJ Yoda has transformed clubbing as we know it, throwing down styles as diverse as Hip-Hop, Funk, Baltimore Club, Drum n Bass and even Country music, all cut-up with a awe-inspiring selection of film, TV show and You Tube visuals that elevate his sets to the uniquely sublime.

Peel back your ears, stick matchsticks in your eyes, set your jaw to ‘drop’… Bristol’s, Detective of Perspective, DJ Cheeba is plugged in and here to turn the tables. With his trademark slick blend of classic breaks, hip-hop, electronica, rock, kid’s records, d&b, and in fact everything in between and beyond, Cheeba has the unrivalled technical ability, knowledge and humour to pull it all together like no one else. He’s on a one-man mission to cut and paste anything and everything you’ve ever seen, heard or imagined. Prepare for mind melt… Cheeba is certainly not your standard disc jockey.

Roberto (also known as BOND1R) was lured into music at an early age, growing up in Hungary with a staple diet of disco, hip hop, and eighties soul. 'When I was younger, I'd always listen to music as my parents switched on the radio for me at all times. My dad quickly found out my keen interest in music and gave me the task to record tunes from radio broadcasts on his AKAI tape deck. Then, he bought a turntable and started collecting records. It was a miracle to see how sounds came from the grooves! I endlessly asked him to explain how it worked and he never was bored to do that.'

Growing up to the influences of Pete Tong, Danny Rampling, Erick Morillo & Judge Jules it wasn't long before Dave became a passionate follower of the Dance Music scene.
