Future - 2pm Sunday 4th October

Where the hell are we heading?

DJ, live music or both. Is the live music / DJ cycle heading back our way or are the boundaries becoming blurred beyond distinction?

This session is for anyone with a passion for electronic music. The panellists will discuss the future of the genre covering styles, technology, performance and trends.

The Panel
Nikhil Shah
Nikhil Shah is co-founder of Mixcloud, an online radio startup based in London. He also runs successful London club brands Man Make Music and Retro Remix and DJs under the guise Sketchy. Cambridge University Mathematics graduate and former Brand Consultant, Nikhil has always had a passion for building brands and communities, starting from his first clubnights as a teenager. Over the years he has applied these interests to numerous club and event brands - including the student union entertainments brand, an event listings site, successful club brands and a small festival. He has worked with some of the world’s leading DJs, event brands and venues, including Ministry of Sound, Glastonbury and Bestival. As a brand consultant Nikhil has worked with brands such as Sky, Sony, Unilever and Sony Ericsson on insight, positioning and strategy work. As a DJ, Nikhil is proud to have played at some of the best clubs in the world alongside some of his musical heroes.
Charles Ward
Charles Ward was once the co-founder of DJ Magazine UK, DJ Magazine Ibiza, and the TOP 100 DJ Poll. He now runs his own company, Concept, providing services to the media and dance music industry. One of his clients are KAM, the leading DJ Equipment manufacturers, and he is now responsible for all there branding, media buying and events. He was also responsible for the media buying for Pacha Ibiza 2008 and manages Dan Tait, the international DJ who now resides in Ibiza, and is responsible for getting Dan on the Space and Pacha rosters.

Visitor Numbers Up 50% At BPM 2009
The 2009 BPM event at the Birmingham NEC over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of October attracted record numbers, and has been hailed by organisers as a resounding success. Visitor numbers went up by 50% from last year, with a total of 3897 visitors attending over the weekend. Attendees came from all corners of the UK, with some making the trip from mainland Europe and even further afield!
