This session is for all types of DJs with an interest in radio work. The panel will cover the different types of radio presenting opportunities and how to get them.

Roger Brooks
Roger Brooks spent over 30 years in commercial radio, 19 of which were in senior management. He was worked as presenter, producer and managing director of six stations (including Hallam, Viking, Beacon and 2CR) and has served as a non-executive director for many others. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management and has been involved extensively in training in the radio industry.

Des Paul
Des Paul has been working in the music and broadcast media industry for 15 years. From his roots in South London cable radio, he joined Capital Radio in 1996 and spent 8 years presenting award-winning shows for Power FM and the Capital Network. Des also produced and developed specialist dance music shows ranging from house to UK Garage. In 2004 he came to Choice FM as Head of Music after their acquisition by Capital, and spent 2 years completely rebuilding the music policy and saw the station through its strongest period of growth bringing in the highest audience figures in its history. Des moved to MTV Networks UK & Ireland in 2006 as Acting Head of Music Programming working on strategy for the music output of the 9 MTV UK & Ireland Music Channels. 2008 saw Des return to radio producing, play-listing and presenting two weekend dance music shows for Capital FM. He also moved to Ministry of Sound to consult as Head of Media looking after MoS TV and MoS Radio. Earlier this year he took the opportunity to play for Hed Kandi and is now travelling all over the world playing glamorous house music.

Richard Lee
Richard Lee started his music career as a mobile DJ at the age of 15. He joined a local DJ agency at 18 and worked all over the UK as a professional DJ for 10 years. In 1999 he joined The Music Factory Entertainment Group and quickly worked his way to the position of Group Label Manager. This includes heading up the hugely successful Mastermix label. In 2006 Richard joined the local radio station, Rother FM, to host their breakfast show and weekend sports show. This was his first experience at radio and has led to a number of opportunities that he hopes to pursue in 2010. Richard returned to the Music Factory in 2008 and has been using his radio experience to work on a brand new digital site aimed at radio presenters all over the world. He has made many friends in the radio industry and believes that this will assist him in future ventures.

Steve White
Steve White began his career with the Lincs Group. He was the first voice to be heard on Dearne FM when it was launched in 2003. He hosted the highly successful breakfast show for three years before moving to Hallam FM & Magic AM in 2006. His career continued to move in the right direction when he joined BBC Radio Sheffield in 2007. He currently presents their early morning breakfast show as well as being a key figure in producing the overall station sound. To add to that, Steve has been presenting his Soul show for a number of months and it has quickly become one of the most popular shows within the entire BBC network.

David Hoffman
David Hoffman is a full time radio professional and has hosted shows on around thirty different radio stations, locally, nationally and now, courtesy of the internet, globally. More recently, he became involved with a software supplier, Barrcode Ltd, and helped adapt their radio playout system into BCX-DJ, aimed at personality and party DJs. David is also the author of 'Getting On Air (How to Find a Job in Radio ... and Keep it)' a book that contains his 30 years of radio experience distilled into sixteen chapters of interesting and amusing reading. The book contains advice, information and anecdotes covering everything from how much you can expect to earn as a Radio presenter to essential tips on putting together a great demo tape.

Visitor Numbers Up 50% At BPM 2009 The 2009 BPM event at the Birmingham NEC over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of October attracted record numbers, and has been hailed by organisers as a resounding success. Visitor numbers went up by 50% from last year, with a total of 3897 visitors attending over the weekend. Attendees came from all corners of the UK, with some making the trip from mainland Europe and even further afield!
