The CHAUVET Arena is BPM's central performance space, a state-of-the-art nightclub built just for the show. The Main Stage in the Arena features a varied programme of DJ sets, performances and live Q&As with high profile DJs running throughout the three days of BPM:

Saturday 13th September 2014



12:00: Matty B [DJ Set]
The Freestyle DJ Of The Year 2013 returns to open the arena at BPM 2014. Expect a set of house & dance anthems showcasing impressive technical ability - head to the Arena early for a taste of what won over last year’s judges!




12:30: Freestyle DJ Competition Presented By Westend DJ [Heat 1]
Up-and-coming DJs battle it out to become the Freestyle Champion. In each heat, four contestants will have just five minutes to show what they can do behind the decks, before the judges choose a winner - based technical ability, music selection and crowd interaction - to go through to the final at the end of the day.




13:00: Roni Size [Q&A]
Legendary Drum & Bass DJ and producer Roni Size emerged from the same Bristol scene that spawned Massive Attack, before going on to win the 1997 Mercury Prize as part of Reprazent. Having just released his fourth album with the collective, this relaxed Q&A session offers the perfect opportunity to learn more of both the future plans and the past glories of the man behind classics such as ‘Brown Paper Bag’.

Up-and-coming DJs battle it out to become the Freestyle Champion. 14:00: DMC Showcase [Hosted by Cutmaster Swift]
Ahead of their World DJ Championships in London on the 5th of October, DMC will present an Arena Showcase featuring routines from special guests (TBA). Expect to see entertaining, innovative and original turntablism from the world’s best deck technicians.




14:30: The Anxious [Live Performance]
The music of The Anxious redefined the sound of techno at the turn of the millennium, resulting in the duo's endorsement by techno luminaries such as Dave Clarke, Carl Cox and Joey Beltram. Even in 2014, after nearly two decades of making music, The Anxious still do not follow the trends of the day. Their sound is taking dark, electronic mind-music to a whole new generation.

15:30: Him_Self_Her [DJ Set]
After honing individual skills on the Leicester music scene, Claire and Leon came together to form house duo Him_Self_Her. Combining all aspects of underground house, the duo quickly found success through both samples and self-penned hits - like the Pete Tong-endorsed 'Gone Too Long'. Since 2012 their 'house music with feeling’ sound has picked up fans across the globe.




16:00: DJ Mag Tech Awards Presentation [Hosted By Mick Wilson]
This year DJ Mag once again took their annual Tech Awards online - using an interactive Facebook video app to allow readers to choose their favourite new gear. And you lot voted in your thousands! Be sure to come down to the Arena to hear the results announcement and see the awards presented live!




16:30: Freestyle DJ Competition Presented By Westend DJ [Final]
The winners from the three heats earlier in the day – as well as the judges’ ‘wild card’ favourite who didn’t quite win their heat - will each perform another five minute showcase mix. The judges will then select a runner up and the BPM Freestyle DJ of the Year 2014 who wins £2000+ of gear & a set at BPM 2015.




17:00: Ultimate Prize Draw
Entry is included for free with every ticket bought in advance or on the door for this massive prize draw of equipment from BPM exhibitors. All you have to do is fill in your details on a draw ticket and put it in the entry box. Then, at the end of the day, watch the draw take place to find out if you are the lucky winner (you must be present at the draw to win).




17:05: Toddla T [DJ Set]
Starting out at a young age - gaining the name Toddla T in the process - Tom Bell cut his teeth on the Sheffield scene before emerging as one of the UK's hottest DJ talents. Aside from making two albums, he has since produced tracks for Tinchey Strider, Bashy and Roots Manuva, and remixed tracks for everyone from Armand Van Helden to Hot Chip...




18:30: Fenton Gee [DJ Set]
A versatile DJ that plays all musical styles, Fenton Gee has DJed across the globe since he burst on to the scene in 2013. With bookings in Ibiza super-clubs Amnesia, Space and Pacha, and having supported such names as Alesso and Eric Prydz, Fenton had a hugely successful past year. He also has upcoming releases with a well known DJ and producer due later this year...

12:00: BPM DJ of the Year Supported By Reloop [DJ Set]
Kicking off Sunday’s arena line-up will be the winner of our 2014 DJ of the Year Facebook competition supported by Reloop. Our winner fought off stiff competition to first become one of our DJs of the Week, then DJs of the Month and now, finally, DJ of the Year!




12:30: Shotta TV Take Over [Showcase]
Underground music streaming platform and studio network Shotta TV presents an urban music showcase featuring DJ Smoke & Busta MC, Sons of Jacob Live PA, Myth of Unity (MOU) Live PA + guests.




13:00: Arkaei Vs. Depth Jockey [DJ/AV Set]
Arkaei's highly technical approach to DJing has seen him awarded four successive IDA Showcase Championships, and at this year's BPM, he'll join forces with Helsinki-based visual artist Depth Jockey for a unique interactive performance.




13:30: Third Son [DJ Set]
Having already signed to Noir, Underground Audio, and Materialism within a week of launching his third project - Third Son, it seems Joseph Thomas Price is letting the music speak for itself. Following a varied musical upbringing, his latest journey into electronic music sees him honing his original take on house and techno, with Noir having released his Transition EP in August 2014.

14:30: Rob Tissera [DJ Set]
After putting his neck on the line and being jailed for organising acid house parties in the north of England, Rob went on to become known industry-wide for his contribution to the dance music scene, both on global and national levels. Having played and produced music in every corner of the dance world, Rob Tissera remains fresh and current, still loving every minute...




15:00: The Video Geeks [AV DJ Set]
Masters at creating compelling, artistic and even hilarious custom-made videos for their uplifting and energetic shows, The Video Geeks seamlessly mix the biggest floor fillers with clips from TV, movies and YouTube. Spanning their sets across multiple genres of music, The Video Geeks fuse Electro, Dubstep, Drum & Bass and Urban into a ‘Blink and you miss it’ mash-up of sight & sound which caters for all tastes.




15:30: Kissy Sell Out [Q&A]
With the international dance music landscape evolving exponentially, influential UK house & speed garage DJ, Kissy Sell Out is sounding fresher than ever... In this live Q&A Kissy will discuss his career so far and share his plans for the future, not to mention offering advice for those who aspire to follow in his footsteps!




16:00: Jon 1st [Showcase + Deconstruction]
2013 World Online DMC Champion Jon 1st will first showcase his skills as a turntablist and then deconstruct his set, explaining the tricks and techniques involved. Prepare to be wowed, inspired and to pick up a tip or two.




16:30: Mark EG [DJ Set]
One of the UK clubbing industry's most revered names, Mark EG has been there through it all: from the early days of electro to the acid house/rave scene of the late-eighties to the hardstyle dance of the millennial generation, winning numerous awards along the way. Known for his crazy on-stage antics, Mark is sure to liven up the Arena at BPM 2014...

17:05: BPM Dance Classics Party
We'll turn the clocks back again to re-live memories of dance music history as the hugely popular Dance Classics Party returns to BPM in 2014 for its fifth year. This showcase of the best retro Dance anthems from the 90s and early 00s is not to be missed!




17:05: Urban Cookie Collective [Live PA]
Known for their runaway hit single 'The Key: The Secret', the Urban Cookie Collective are a British techno and house act started in the early-nineties after Rohan Heath left A Guy Called Gerald. BPM 2014 will see this legendary group of producers and musicians deliver its euphoric club sound to the masses once again...




17:20: DELimentary [History of House Mix]
Famed for his incredible fast-paced live mixes on four decks, DELimentary has become a BPM regular. For the 2014 BPM Dance Classics Party Del has put together a showcase mix that will be an unmissable four deck history lesson covering the evolution of dance music over the years taking in a bucket load of big anthems.




18:05: Angie Brown [Live PA]
Angie Brown is best known for her work with DJ/producer collective Bizarre Inc. Together they enjoyed global success with dance classic 'I'm Gonna Get You', which stayed in the charts for over ten weeks. While this track alone took her around the world, she has also worked with a range of artists, including Fat Boy Slim, Chaka Khan, and The Happy Mondays to name just a few...




18:20: Ian Redman [DJ Set]
Originally hailing from the Hardcore and Bouncy Techno scene back in the mid-90s, Ian Redman has since been on the DJ circuit for over a decade. He is more commonly known as one of the true pioneers of Scouse House but he was also one of the original members of chart topping dance act Ultrabeat.




18:20: Mike Lewis AKA DJ Kuta [DJ Set]
Mike Lewis has been in the industry for almost 20 years and has played both her in the UK as well as internationally in places such as Ibiza, Magaluf and Kavos. He was also involved in the smash hit ‘Set You Free’ from N-Trance and is currently recording a new album.


Monday 15th September 2014



12:00: Sub Skank [DJ Set]
A collective which started as a radio show and developed into a regular London club night playing Bass, Sub Skank provides a platform for unsung producers and DJs. The label aims to carry the same ethos as its highly successful club night and put forth forward-thinking dance floor-conscious music.




13:00: Kutski
It’s very rare in this day and age to find new pioneers who work day in day out to constantly push the boundaries of harder dance music. The new savior of rave and master of hardstyle, Kutski aptly fits these titles and is without a doubt the most exciting crossover talent to emerge from the UK in the past decade!




13:30: Beat A Maxx [AV DJ Set]
Beat a Maxx, aka ‘The World’s Greatest Video DJ’, has been catapulted into star status over the last couple of years. Maxx has been blending his extensive DJing experience with video and award winning turntablism, creating shows unlike anything you’ve seen before.

14:30: Dirty Secretz [DJ Set]
One of house music's worst kept secrets, Leicester-based Dirty Secretz started in 2008 as a production duo, before Richie went on alone,carving signature house grooves into every production he touched. Now a staple on Radio 1, Kiss and Capital FM, he is known throughout the industry and championed by everyone from Fedde Le Grande to Roger Sanchez!




15:00: ACS Custom present: THE STUDENTS TAKE OVER! [Showcase]
This very popular feature of BPM returns to showcase the talents of the UK music student network. Two very lucky student DJs will have the opportunity to play the CHAUVET Arena. This year the take over will be supported and hosted by hearing protection and in-ear monitor specialists ACS Custom, who believe in bringing education and the industry together to highlight new musical talent.




15:45: Maddox & Townend [DJ Set]
Hailing from the north of England, Maddox & Townend is a collaborative project inspired by a love of dirty grooves and fat bass lines. Both artists in their own right, the duo are no strangers to the underground dance scene and having forged an unstoppable sound described simply as 'house music that's hard', they have big plans for the future!




16:15: DJ Barney [DJ Set]
Just as likely to be found partying in some of the most exclusive West End clubs as he is to be rocking the dance-floors of the underground, Barney is a well-known crowd pleaser whose seamless sets span the many manifestations of house music. Currently a resident at DSTRKT (London’s Best Club 2014), Barney has played top clubs throughout his career, including Ministry of Sound, Funky Buddha, Pacha & Fabric.
